Operator

(Full time, Temporary)

Position Description

Proterra Energy Solutions specializes in the cleaning of above ground storage tanks, vessels, bullets and towers for various companies in the oil and gas industry throughout Western Canada. We provide full “all-inclusive” service that comes with extensive management experience, state-of the-art equipment and a highly skilled work force.

The successful candidate will be part of our operations team, which helps deliver solutions to oil and gas customers through facilities, terminals and onsite projects. Proterra’s operators are leaders in safety and efficient operating practices. You will be accountable for day-to-day facility operations, ensuring that all equipment and systems are being operated to Proterra standards. Using your technical expertise, you will help optimize equipment by identifying and recommending improvements to processes and systems. This position is a temporary full-time role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all equipment and systems are being operated to Proterra standards
  • Operate, monitor and control process levels, temperatures, pressures and flows for applicable utilities, processes and systems in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ensure required documentation is legible, accurate and completed on a timely basis
  • Use technical expertise to assist operations in the optimization of equipment
  • Identify and recommend improvements to processes and systems
  • Perform emergency operations activities as needed
  • Regularly attend and actively participate in safety meetings. Identify any safety concerns to supervisor, report all incidents, and assist in investigations
  • Perform mechanical and/or equipment maintenance as required and/or assigned
  • Maintain safe and clean equipment and work area
  • Train on unfamiliar processes and equipment, within established guidelines as required
  • Acquire and maintain adequate certification as required
  • Provide guidance, direction and technical expertise to less experienced operators
  • Perform physical tasks and duties including but not limited to shovelling, moving equipment, tank cleaning and housekeeping requirements

Experience, Qualifications and Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (both days and nights) as required
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required
  • Ability to communicate thoughts and ideas effectively both written and verbally
  • Experience working with boilers is an asset
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must be entitled to work in Canada

Confined Space Technician

(Full time, Temporary)

Position Description

Proterra Energy Solutions specializes in the cleaning of above ground storage tanks, vessels, bullets and towers for various companies in the oil and gas industry throughout Western Canada. We provide full “all-inclusive” service that comes with extensive management experience, state-of the-art equipment and a highly skilled work force. We are looking for an experienced Confined Space Technicians to join the team. With a “safety first” approach, this position is responsible for the safe and effective product removal and cleaning of large-scale petroleum storage tanks. The successful candidate will be driven, results-orientated and a team player. Although this position is based in Alberta, it could involve travelling throughout Western Canada.

  • Work rotation is based on client and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure health and safety is paramount by following policies, procedures and acting in a safe manner at all times
  • Work at heights to remove roof seals
  • Work inside petroleum storage tanks to scrape and clean
  • Install equipment on new tanks and tanks that are being refurbished
  • Perform general duties required to complete work, such as debris removal, clean up, set up, etc
  • Complete basic equipment and tool maintenance, including basic repairs
  • Operate Wash Wands
  • Work in confined spaces and wear Supplied Breathing Air Apparatus

Experience, Qualifications and Education

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license is an asset
  • Previous tank cleaning and/or confined space entry experience preferred
  • Capable of physically demanding work in a confined space environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented, safety-focused environment

Safety Advisor

Position Description

Proterra Energy Solutions specializes in the cleaning of above ground storage tanks, vessels, bullets and towers for various companies in the oil and gas industry throughout Western Canada. We provide full “all-inclusive” service that comes with extensive management experience, state-of the-art equipment and a highly skilled work force. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Safety Officer performs health and safety related tasks and activities for onsite groups with a focus on project work. The successful candidate will also act as a liaison between customers and work crews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire and maintain adequate certification as required
  • Work directly with operators, supervisors and clients to maintain established controls, procedures and accountability to manage safety and environmental performance and regulatory compliance
  • Ensure safety hazards and environmental risks are identified and controlled through Proterra’s established programs and site specific safety plans
  • Identify and assists with prioritizing site safety conditions and recommend solutions for continuous improvement
  • Coach and mentor site team including operators, subcontractors, and client representatives of site safety expectations, requirements, and best practices. Assist as a resource for safety related issues and concerns as required
  • Directly assist the site personnel to implement and complete tasks by ensuring worker involvement in all activities such as hazard assessments, development of procedures, use of hazard ID cards, etc
  • Consult with Proterra and client representatives to identify project safety specific issues and client specific requirements
  • Implement site specific expectations with Proterra operators and supervisors
  • Lead development of site/project specific EH&S plans prior to commencing on site work
  • Participate in pre-mobilization meetings to ensure field implementation of site specific work plan
  • Participate in client initiated site inspections and audits
  • Attend and participate at joint contractor safety meetings
  • Ensure operations group maintains and retains project related safety records

Experience, Qualifications and Education

  • Minimum high school education
  • Professional designation an asset
  • This is a safety sensitive position. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of required medical, physical, drug and alcohol testing

Supervisor

Proterra Energy Solutions is looking for an experienced Supervisor to join the team. With a “safety first” approach, this position is responsible for overseeing the safe and effective product removal and cleaning of large-scale petroleum storage tanks. The successful candidate will be driven, results-orientated and a team player. Although this position is based in Alberta, it could involve travelling throughout Western Canada. We offer competitive rates based on experience. Work rotation is based on client and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure health and safety is paramount by following policies and procedures, and acting in a safe manner at all times
  • Oversee the planning, preparation and execution of industrial high pressure water washing, vacuuming and steamer activities at customer shutdown sites
  • Complete all required paperwork, including job reports/tickets, LEMs, billing, safety forms, drivers logs, pre-trips and other related items
  • Liaise between operations and client. Communicate with and report to operations to ensure contractual obligations are met, including preparing and submitting project progression status reports and ensuring change orders are completed, communicated, and executed before any additional work is performed
  • Assist with training and mentorship of field employees
  • Provide feedback of field service employees to human resources for performance evaluations

Experience, Qualifications and Education

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license required
  • Previous tank cleaning and/or confined space entry experience preferred
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong Communication skills; must be fluent in speaking/writing English
  • 3-5 years of industry and supervisory experience
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Ability to work with minimal management supervision in a team-oriented, safety-focused environment

Safety Watch

(Full time, Temporary)

Position Description

Proterra Energy Solutions specializes in the cleaning of above ground storage tanks, vessels, bullets and towers for various companies in the oil and gas industry throughout Western Canada. We provide full “all-inclusive” service that comes with extensive management experience, state-of the-art equipment and a highly skilled work force.

We are looking for a hardworking, experienced and skilled Safety Watch to join our team. Our main office is based out of Calgary, however this position does require travel throughout Western Canada in order to meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Know, understand and comply with all aspects of the HSE program and communicate the importance of the program to employees
  • Attend and participate in daily and weekly safety meetings
  • Lead discussion for each pre-hazard analysis
  • Review and enforce all requirements of client confined space entry permit and Proterra Energy Services confined space code of practice
  • Inspect all tools, equipment and personnel prior to entry into controlled space to ensure all safety requirements are met
  • Ensure all gas detection equipment is calibrated and bump tested as per manufacture specifications, and documentation is completed daily
  • Monitor controller space atmosphere for hazards including H2S, CO, flammable gas, explosive gas, dust and O2 Levels. Evacuate workers from space if readings are out of acceptable range as defined on permit
  • Monitor work crew and work area during their tasks to ensure compliance to safety program, use of PPE, adherence to safe work practices, as well as codes of practice and procedures
  • Provide first aid as required
  • Assist in all onsite incident investigations, as required
  • Must have good written and verbal English skills

  • Previously oil field experienced required

  • OSSA Confined Space Entry Monitor
  • Ossa Fall Protection
  • Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Confined Space Entry, and CSTS.
